David's service to the square dance community began with Abbotsford "Grand" Squares, which is still his home club since January 2001.

In 2004/2005 David served the "Grand" Squares as Vice President.

Between 2005 and 2018, David served 12 terms as club President.

He is the longest-serving club president in the history of Abbotsford "Grand" Squares.

Concurrently with his executive duties, David also filled several other roles within the club, making sure that everything ran smoothly when others were not available to help out.

He was club Wagon Master in 2004-05 and from 2007 to 2012.

David was at the front desk on Plus nights the year of 2006-07.

In the 2008-09 year, he was club rep to the Fraser Valley Square and Round Dance Association.

He was Plus convener and helped collect Club Memberships and Valley Circle sales in 2009-10.

David accepted the responsibility of Valley Circle ads and website updates from 2011 to 2013 and again from 2014 to 2016.

Also from 2014 to 2015, David handled the Club badge and dangle orders.

As members of the ASAA Hall, the "Grand" Squares club needed a representative to the hall Association, and David served in that capacity.

And he even took care of purchasing kitchen supplies for one year.

David's commitment to Square Dancing in Region 2 expanded beyond the club level when he accepted the position of Vice President of the FVSKRDA in the year 2012 to 2013. As VP, he had the responsibility of liaising with the Vancouver & District Caller/Teachers Association, and attended four meetings a year in that role.

During the years 2014 to 2'016, David was President of the FVS&RDA, and those years were followed with two years as Past President. While serving as President, he also joined the Joint Promotion Committee of the FVS&RDA and the V&DCTA, a stint of 4 years, from 2014-2018.

In May 2015, David attended the first meeting of the BC Festival 2017 committee. At that meeting, he accepted the position of Co-Chairman of the festival. For the next 26 months, while serving his club in multiple roles and also finishing out his term as President of the FVS&RDA, David fulfilled this leadership role that was vital to the success of BC Festival 2017.

Lastly, when the need arose at the FVS&RDA for a Vice President in 2017-18, David again stepped in to serve.

While many people serve one term in one capacity, far fewer serve multiple terms. Very few indeed serve multiple terms in multiple capacities. David deserves the heartfelt appreciation of his club and the recognition of the impact his years of service made upon the region. He deserves to be among those we recognize with the Region 2 Scroll of Honour.
