2017 DRISCOLL TEEN AWARD RECIPIENTS

Jeffrey Corrigan

Elizabeth has been square and round dancing for the past 8 years. Elizabeth is a willing participant in all her encounters. Elizabeth is enthusiastic to help out with the beginners and will make sure everyone has a chance to dance. Elizabeth enjoys guiding dance sessions to make them more beneficial. For the past two years Elizabeth has called at competitions and cued for three years in competition.

Elizabeth has been the fundraising coordinator for the last three years and has had several good ideas on how we can raise extra funds for the club. Elizabeth always makes sure the prizes and baskets are organized and presented in a pleasant manner, which is quite an organizational nightmare but Elizabeth seemed to pull it off with ease.

Elizabeth has been an active member of her club executive and does a great job organizing many events. Elizabeth has made herself available when needed to dance in the Junior Square. Elizabeth spends time with the younger dancers in the club making sure that they are having a good time and learning their moves. Elizabeth also spends a lot of time with her two young siblings to give her mother some rest.

Elizabeth is an ambassador for square dancing and travels to many events with her parents. Elizabeth attends all the practices. Elizabeth is in charge of a sign-up sheets at each dance. Elizabeth is a hard worker and always has a positive attitude at the club. Elizabeth is friendly, responsible and punctual and does enjoys her dancing.

This year at the PNTSDF Elizabeth placed third in the Intermediate Round dancing and placed first and won display in the Senior Square for 2017. In round dancing Elizabeth won best compulsory last year.

At present Elizabeth has spent the last year working and deciding what Elizabeth would like to do for her future schooling.

On behalf of the Driscoll Committee, we would like to present Elizabeth Wristen with the Driscoll Award. Congratulations Elizabeth!

 

Jeffrey has been a member of the club for the past 8 years. Jeffrey is always willing to help out with classes and be an angel. Jeffrey is willing to dance with anyone who needs a partner. Jeffrey attends extra-curricular club events and often helped organize them. Jeffrey has taken a leadership role with his round dancing, and has arranged extra practice time with his round dance partner. Jeffrey often dances at other clubs to get more experience dancing to other cuers.

This year Jeffrey is the male teen representative for the club and on the executive. Jeffrey is an older member of the group and a good role model to younger members. Jeffrey attends special events and is an ambassador for the club. Jeffrey has worked hard at round dancing. Jeffrey helps with the set up of the hall and also helps the cuer with the equipment. Jeffrey is also available in the Junior Square when needed.

Jeffrey is a very pleasant and courteous young man, and always very respectful of other dancers. Jeffrey has helped out during adult teaching sessions ranging from new dancers up to A1 and enhanced everyone's dancing experience.

Jeffrey has been a very busy young man using his free time to help make his parents life easier. Jeffrey has taken on the many weekly chores of the household. Jeffrey has helped with the unloading and loading of the caller's equipment from the car before and after dances. Jeffrey makes sure all of the setup is ready to go.

Last year Jeffrey placed third in the Senior Square. This year the Senior Square won display and placed first overall.

Last year Jeffrey graduated from high school and has been looking for work. Jeffrey attended a 4 month course though Work BC to help clarify his work and education goals. Jeffrey will attend Kwantlan University in September studying to become a teacher.
